Consulting Associates are professionals who have chosen to work closely with Conscious Asset Management in some aspect of our client service delivery and the joint development of business opportunities. They are independent consultants who share a common entrepreneurial spirit with us and enjoy a share of our success in the market working under our successful CAM and Uptime brands. We work with them on a regular basis to develop and provide specific client services. These are the professionals you are most likely to see working in our direct client service delivery roles as engagement leaders, managers and operating consultants.

 

Bob Rose

Bob-Rose.jpgBob graduated with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1974 from the University of Alberta in Edmonton. In 1978, he lived in Pittsburgh and attended the Penn State University Advanced School in Power Systems Engineering. He worked 35 years for ATCO Electric. The first 14 years were in Transmission and Distribution engineering design and project management. Eleven years were in transmission maintenance engineering. In the last ten years Bob was assigned the lead of a newly formed Transmission Asset Management group. He built the group up from nothing to an eventual 12-person team responsible for all asset management processes. Based upon the Uptime pyramid of excellence, his processes now provide world class asset management for an $800 million dollar transmission system of physical assets that includes 150 transmission substations, 130 transmission lines, 100 telecom microwave tower sites and 10 small diesel powered isolated power plants. At the time of his retirement Bob was preparing ATCO Electric to qualify the Transmission department for PAS 55 accreditation.

Bob retiredfrom ATCO Electric in 2008 and now does consulting engineering in asset management. He has made a key focus the implementation and accreditation of PAS-55. Bob resides in Sherwood Park (Edmonton), Alberta, Canada.

 

Douglas Canty

DCanty.jpg Doug is a former Senior Advisor, Managing Director, Partner and Principal of Bearing Point (formerly KPMG). His consulting experience is always focused on helping companies develop and then implement and achieve business strategies and goals. His 20+ years of managing projects in over 20 countries has given him significantly broad experience and capabilities to ensure clients can succeed in many different business and social environments, in the energy, chemical and manufacturing sectors. Many of his projects have also included significant information technology components, again focused on driving successful outcomes to achieve business goals.

 

Leonard Middleton

Leonard G Middleton.jpgLeonard has over 30 years of professional experience in maintenance, engineering, and project management. His strong technical background and analytic capabilities combined with a business degree provides a broad perspective of physical asset management issues and solutions to support the organizational objectives. He has in-depth knowledge of performance measures and benchmarking; project management, governance and project evaluation and selection including cost benefit analysis; work management; reliability-centred maintenance and asset strategy supporting organizational goals.

Len holds a degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng) from Windsor University and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from York University''s Schulich School of Business. Len is a certified by the Project Management Institute as a Project Management Professional (PMP) and is a certified RCM2 Practitioner. He leads the bulk of our RCM2 consulting projects and provides strategy, Uptime related support and advisory services, strategy/performance management alignment and capital project management services.

 

Michael G. Currie

With over 25 years experience, Michael has led business units at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Matrikon and Finning Canada. He is a frequent speaker at industry events and a regular contributor of articles on subjects concerning asset management, technology and human resource strategy. Michael has a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of British Columbia and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario. He lives in Kelowna, British Columbia.

Michael provides technology optimization services and a deep level of mining industry insight and expertise.

 

Rob Pennell, PE

Rob brings a fresh perspective to our business as we expand beyond ourtraditional maintenance related roots throughout North America. Rob is a professional engineer and founder of Pennell Consulting Inc. of Spokane, Washington, providing design services in Electrical and Electronics Systems Design for the Architectural and Construction industries. The Pennell team focuses on challenging and technically complex assignments for correctional, educational, health care, historic buildings, institutional, manufacturing, military facilities, public buildings, retail and office buildings, telecommunications and data processing facilities. It has successfully completed challenging assignments for new construction, renovation, and studies for numerous clients ranging from corporations, contractors, institutions, and government entities.

 

Steve Bird

Steve.jpgSteve is an independent consultant based in Exeter, UK. He has over 25 Years in Asset Management, has Implemented AM into a number of companies, is a council member of IAM, carries out audits against PAS 55 (over a dozen so far in a variety of industries), AMIS, IIMM and develops associated improvement plans. He manages AM implementation projects. Steve specializes in Strategic Asset Management, PAS 55 Audit & Implementation, Risk, Risk based tools and Whole Life Costing.

Steve provides our deepest insight and mentoring for our team in Asset Management and specifically PAS 55 as we introduce it to the Canadian and American markets. Steve was an integral part of the IAM team that produced the BSI Asset Management specification, PAS 55. In that project he represented UK National Air Traffic Services Ltd. He has worked with it since it was conceived in 1995, carried out audits and implementations of it since 2004 and supports its dedicated audit tool through the IAM.
